The Eklutna River near Anchorage is dammed and no water flows below the traditional riverbed except from smaller tributaries that fed into the Eklutna River. The river was once spawning habitat for all five species of Pacific salmon.
Today 90% of the flow is used for electrical generation,
10% is used for drinking water.
